Embedding Dashboards
How to show a Folio dashboard on your organization's portal so the people signed in there see it without signing in again.
Overview
A dashboard can sit on a page of your organization's portal, the site its members sign in to through Arbor. There it's the dashboard alone: its filters, its tiles, and Refresh. Readers can't edit it or move from it into the rest of Folio, and its tiles don't link to their reports.
Members signed in to the portal are signed in to the dashboard, too. They never see Folio's sign-in.
The dashboard's address
The embedded dashboard has an address of its own, made from two parts of the dashboard's address in Folio:
https://folio.toflourish.org/embed/d/<dashboard>?org=<organization>
Open the dashboard in Folio and read its address, which looks like https://folio.toflourish.org/o/<organization>/d/<dashboard>. Put the part after /o/ in place of <organization> and the part after /d/ in place of <dashboard>.
Filters in the address work here, too. Filter the dashboard in Folio, copy each f. part of its address onto the end of the embed address, and the embedded dashboard opens filtered the same way.
Putting it on a portal page
A portal page shows the dashboard in an app card, which frames it and signs the member in. How to add one, and what the card needs from your Salesforce site, is on Flourish Core's Portal configuration. Give the card the address above and folio as its app.
The card shows Ran at and Refresh beside its own title. Without a title, the dashboard shows them itself.
Who sees what
Folio decides what each member sees the same way it does for anyone.
- Share the dashboard with your portal's team. Your portal's members make up a team of your organization, and it's listed with the others when you share. See Sharing.
- Share its reports with the team, too. A member sees a tile only if they can open its report. Folio offers to share them as you share the dashboard.
- What the reports show is what every member sees. Reports read their source through your organization's connection. See What a report sees.
Signed in through the portal, a member opens your organization's dashboards that are shared with them and nothing else in Folio.
What members might see instead
| Message | Why |
|---|---|
| This dashboard opens inside your organization's portal | Someone opened the address on its own, outside the portal. |
| We couldn't sign you in to this dashboard | The portal didn't sign them in. Signing in to the portal again and reloading the page fixes it. |
| This dashboard isn't here | It was deleted, or it isn't shared with them. |
A dashboard can be framed only on Salesforce Experience sites and in Flourish's own apps. Every other page of Folio refuses to be framed anywhere.
